Multiple David Guetta Shows Cancelled
David Guetta was due to play a gig in the southern Indian city of Bangalore last night (Thursday 12th January), but the event’s organiser was forced to cancel it yesterday.
Sunburn, the promoter of the Guetta show, issued a statement saying they were advised to cancel it due to “events that happened around New Year’s Eve”. This seems to reference reports of a “mass molestation” at celebrations in Bangalore.
However, police have denied that this was the reason for the cancellation, with Bangalore range Inspector General Seemant Kumar Singh telling BBC Hindi’s Imran Qureshi that they simply didn’t apply for a permit in time.
Singh said, “The organisers sought permission for today's programme only on 10th January. But our entire force is busy with security arrangements for the APMC Yard (agricultural produce marketing committee yard) elections. Let them seek fresh permission in time for their concert, we will allow it.”
Reports are also surfacing that Guetta’s planned concert in Mumbai tonight (Friday 13th January) has also been cancelled as Sunburn had not completed “mandatory requirements and legal formalities”, according to NDTV.
The Bangalore show was a charity event in aid of underprivileged children in India. Proceeds from the #Guetta4Good concert were supposed to benefit Magic Bus, a non-profit organisation that helps children living in poverty by providing education and life experiences.
